This Privacy Policy explains how AI Pro Tips (“we”, “us”, “our”), the operator of aiprotips.net (the “Site”), collects, uses and shares information when you visit the Site, browse the AI tool directory, submit a tool, or otherwise interact with us. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Tool submissions. When you use our Submit a Tool form we collect the details you enter, which may include your name, email address, the tool’s name, website, category and description, and any logo, icon or image you upload.
- Messages. If you contact us, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message.
- Comments. Where comments are enabled on older posts, we collect the name, email address, website and comment text you enter, together with your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your name and comment may be displayed publicly.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data, such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see section 4).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not include any in your submissions or messages.
2. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and the tool directory.
- To review, publish and manage tool submissions, and to contact you about them.
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To understand how the Site is used, measure performance and decide which content to improve.
- To detect and prevent spam, abuse and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar regions)
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the Site; performance of a request you make, such as a tool submission or a message; consent, where required, for analytics cookies and similar technologies; and legal obligation where applicable.
4. Cookies, analytics and fonts
The Site uses a Google tag (installed through Google Site Kit) to collect analytics about how visitors use the Site. This may set cookies or read identifiers on your device and sends usage data to Google. You can learn more about how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
The Site also loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your IP address and browser details are sent to Google’s servers when a page loads. WordPress may additionally set essential cookies, for example for logged-in users or for comment forms.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- with service providers that help us run the Site, such as our hosting and content-delivery providers, form and anti-spam tools, and Google (analytics and fonts), who may process data only to provide their services;
- when required by law or to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or the Site;
- in connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the Site; and
- publicly, where you choose to publish information, for example in a comment, or where a submitted tool listing is published on the Site.
6. Third-party links and affiliate links
The directory links to the websites of the AI tools it lists, and the Site’s footer links to social and community platforms. Those sites are run by third parties with their own privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them. Some outbound links may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up or buy through them, at no extra cost to you.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above. Tool submissions and related contact details are kept while the listing is active or being considered, and for a reasonable period afterwards. Comments are kept until they are deleted. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics settings. We may keep information longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our terms.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us through our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection rules. Where required, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
11. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
